Prof. Roger Clarke's homepage (Australian National University) is a good source for ecommerce academic studies (link follows).
Tim is away (around the world business trip) and comes back 13th June 2002. Next meeting fixed for 14th! June 2002 at 13.30 at the Street Market Caffee, Fremantle. Tim will see Brian Hayes who is doing a PhD in the area of ebXML and who works for Commerece One!
Q: documentation tool at ebXML spec process: PDF reader, mostly word/staroffice writer incl. line-number.
Q: journals: Tim will mail me a link of a good online magazine in the b2b area.
Q: NOIE: they have some 4 projects. One is to provide an web service to a) upload a CPP and b) to create one. As a logical followup on this project a tool for the creation of a CPA might be interesting. Other than that there are no immediate news.

This project is about to get a CPA in the end. There are various issues on how to get the CPA. Negotiation of the CPA is the interesting one. There are maybe different layers of the CPA and maybe one could start from layer 1 onwards.
  1. Technical level (this could be the simple algorithm which takes two files and spites out one file).
  2. Business process negotiation level (example of when you use this way of sending goods that is more difficult for me and I would have to charge more )
  3. Human level (negotiation over the phone to clarify things or to generally negotiate details of the CPA)
The whole negotiation as a business process. how to bootstrapping the negotiation process. e.g first to decide which negotiation process to take which itself is a negotiation.
It seems that during the project assumptions will become necessary to eliminate problematics just mentioned slightly above. This is to make sure the project gets somewhere as it seems the perfect, all generic solution is out of focus for this project.
A list of common problems might be good to have at hand.
Q: Possible to get real world CPP's, CPA's:

CPP generally yes but CPA might become confidential for companies. The ebXML mailinglists are a good access point.

Tim suggests to have some real world CPP's samples plus to know how to create one from a real world business scenario. Telstra, Australian National Bank and other companies might be willing to offer their CPP (maybe in another form). - Maybe OPTUS via the OPTUS contacts -
